YouTube Premium started life as YouTube Red at $9.99 in 2015, was rebranded and repriced to $11.99 for new members in 2018, then jumped to $13.99 in July 2023 and $15.99 in June 2026 — a 60% climb over the product's lifetime. The Family plan has been hit hardest: $14.99 at launch, $22.99 by 2023, and $26.99 in 2026, one of the steepest family-tier trajectories anywhere. The 2025 introduction of the cheaper Premium Lite tier ($7.99, now $8.99) mirrors the streaming-industry pattern: add a stripped-down tier, then keep pushing the flagship price up.
